This patent pending new sterling silver is 35% harder than standard sterling silver which will increase the durability of your jewelry and allow for more secure stone setting. Its tighter grain will also allow the silver to take a better, brighter and longer lasting polish. Continuum's bright white color is similar to that of platinum at a fraction of the cost. This is not a coating applied to the outside of the ring so it cannot be added later. Sterling silver is 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% other metals (usually copper). It is the copper in regular sterling silver that causes it to oxidize or tarnish. Continuum silver is a new combination of metals that make up the 7.5% non-silver portion of sterling silver and is made up of 95% precious metals. It is the combination of the these metals that gives Continuum silver its unique properties of strength and tarnish resistance. Continuum silver is tarnish resistant but not tarnish proof. Under some conditions it may tarnish and can stain if exposed to harsh chemicals but any discoloration should rub off with a polishing cloth. Stubborn discoloration can be easily buffed off by a jeweler.
